The sky world existed above earth, which was completely covered with water. Here in a village lived a Chief and his expectant wife. She wanted to eat many strange things and became curious about the roots beneath the trees. He uprooted the tree exposing the roots and soil. The wife was very curious and looked into the hole, she lost her footing and fell in. As she fell she grabbed onto the roots, but slipped an fell for a very long time. As she fell the birds wanted to help and carried her on their wings.

     The water animals also wanted to help and asked the giant turtle if they could put her on hi back; the turtle agreed and all the animals tried to find soil to cover the back, but only muskrat was successful. He placed the handful of soil onto the turtle's back and she was placed on it. Carrying the soil and roots form the sky world tree she walked counter clockwise around the turtle's back and as she did this the turtle and the soil grew. The woman gave birth to a daughter, who helped her mother cultivate the growth and as she matured she was visited by the west wind and she with child, but she was to bear two sons.

     One was born the natural way and other was born from under her arm, which killed her. They buried her and from her body grew more plants from which came Mother Earth. As the sons grew under the grandmother's watchful eye, they had different personalities, one good and one evil. They fought and argued, they challenged each other to different matches, lacrosse, snowsnake, running, and whatever the good twin made that was good, the evil twin made something bad. The grandmother tended to favour the evil child, making him even more mean; in fact he killed his grandmother, cut off her head and threw it into the sky. The two fought and the evil one was defeated and was sent to live under the ground/darkness, where he would continue to cause problems forever.

     Since the good twin was left alone on earth he began to think that he would cover the earth with plants, trees and other living things to enjoy it and look after it. He created four different beings from the bark, foam from the waters, red earth and the black soil. They were given the life by their creator and each took on their own characteristics. So much so that he had to separate them by putting them in different land areas, so they would not harm each other.
