Dr. Lita Mathews, a native of Northern New Mexico,
who's family has resided in the same Native Community five hundred years, is a
champion Powwow Dancer. Over the past twenty years has proven herself in the
powwow arena as a true champion. Her traditional style of dancing depicts the
oldest plains style of dancing for Native American women. |
Lita Mathews
has been performing with the Gathering of Nations Traveling Show for the past
ten years. She has performed several times nationally and internationally. She
has appeared as a representative for Native people on various TV shows on NBC,
the Discovery Channel, MTV, French TV, Italian TV, and Telemundo.
Dr. Mathews received her PhD from the University of
New Mexico in 1999. She has numerous publications to her credit, both academic
and literary. Dr. Mathews holds the responsibilities as a founding board member
of the Gathering of Nations, Ltd. (a non profit organization) and is responsible
for it's educational component. |

proud to announce "A Powwow Summer Across North America". This acclaimed book is
now a 3 CD Audio Book featuring the vocal talents of Native artist Jade
Herrera. Native voices from Indian Country also include Sophie Koshiway,
Walter Bull, Litefoot, Terry Webster, Dennis Bowen, Dorena Martineau, and Derek
Mathews. |
Jade
Herrera, award winning actress of stage and screen, born and raised by her
mother and grandparents in New Mexico. She entered the acting profession after
graduating from high school in Albuquerque. Her first stop was the bright lights
of New York City, where she attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy
in Manhattan.Her screen credits began in
an independent film called, "East of Hope Street", for which she received the
Best Actress Award from the New Orleans Urban Film Festival. She went on to star
as a hearing impaired youth in the CBS movie "Blue Rodeo" with Ann Margret and
Kris Kristofferson. For this role Jade Herrera received an award from the First
American in the Arts Association. This American Indian honor was for outstanding
performance as a new actress. She has also starred in the hit TV series "Walker
Texas Ranger". Jade was asked to present a humanitarian award from the Screen
Actors Guild to the veteran actor, James Cromwell for his work with American
Indian people. |
