Dear Teachers,
This year, the
Annual Gathering of Nations Pow Wow is scheduled for the fourth weekend of April.
The exact dates of the PowWow is April 26 & 27th, 2013.
The Gathering of Nations is the largest "Gathering" of Indian tribes in North America; they gather for the purpose of social and competitive singing and dancing. It is an event celebrating culture and traditional Native Pride.
Singers, dancers and crafters representing over 300 tribes come from throughout the United States and Canada to participate. They travel great distances and converge on Albuquerque, at the
University of New Mexico Arena "The Pit" for this most festive event.
The
Gathering
of Nations
has developed instructional material for Elementary and Secondary Schools to be used by teachers and students. We are inviting you to take advantage of this unique learning experience by making plans now to attend North America's BIGGEST Pow Wow.
We are encouraging you all to take advantage of this great educational experience, by scheduling a trip to the 2013 Gathering of Nations PowWow for you and your students.

Special School Group Rates have been established for Elementary, Secondary, Jr. High (Middle School) and High School students, teachers, chaperons, and bus drivers attending
the first session of the PowWow on Friday, April 26th, 2013
(Group must ARRIVE TOGETHER AT THE DOORS). |

Lesson Plan Information |
 |
Incorporating the lesson plans into your schedule for April 2013 allows you and your students to study one more aspect of Indian culture. The curriculum is designed to bring teachers and students to the Pow Wow, allowing everyone to have a direct experience with the people and their culture.
The lesson plans are available directly from the Gathering of Nations.
There is a $10.00 charge per lesson; Elementary or Secondary. The minimal charge covers the following costs: printing, binding, postage and handling.

Nations School Admission

The Special School Group rate is $ 7.50 per person
(Elementary, Secondary, Jr. High (Middle School) and High School students, Teachers, Chaperons & Bus Drivers) and will only be available at this rate during the date and times listed below:
Ticket sales will be available at "The Pit" starting Thursday, April 25th at the Will Call window located at The Pit startng at 9:00 am and closing at 3:00 pm.
Be Sure to Ask for the Special School Group Rate.
Ticket sales will resume Friday April 26th starting at 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Will Call window flocated at the Pit and be sure to

School rate will only be good between Thursday and Friday time frames mentioned above, after those time frames tickets will be priced at regular General Admission Pricing.
Special School Group Rate is ONLY Available to primary and secondary schools.
ONLY Purchase orders are accepted at WILL CALL for school entry.
Special School Admission can ONLY be used on Friday, April 26th, 2013 for the First afternoon session.
The Group must come in together as one ticket is used for the whole group.

2013 SCHOOL - GATHERING OF NATIONS EVENT INFO AND SCHEDULE: |

Friday, April 26th, 2013 the Pow Wow begins at 12:00 p.m. (doors open at 10 am).
The afternoon sessions will feature the Grand Entry of all the dancers, and competition dancing - the Junior and Teen categories.
The evening sessions feature the Adult categories.
The Arts and Crafts Traders Market is on-going throughout the Pow Wow.
