Southwest Airlines 40th AnniversaryGATHERING OF NATIONS REPRESENTED AT A SOUTHWEST AIRLINES 40TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT On Thursday, October 6, Southwest Airlines hosted 65 of their community partners from across the country for an event entitled, “Connecting Hearts and Minds” on 95th floor of John Hancock Tower in Chicago, IL. Melonie Mathews would like to thank Jackie Thompson and Christine Ortega for the invitation and hospitality that was extended to her (and Gathering of Nations) from Southwest Airlines' Connecting Hearts and Minds event held October 6, 2011. It was an amazing opportunity for the Gathering of Nations organization to meet other extraordinary individuals from various non-profit and grass roots programs. Melonie extends a thank you to Southwest Airlines for supporting the efforts of all of the organizations invited, in helping us to improve our communities and further our goals and reach broader audiences. It is not often that a large corporation, like a major airline company, makes such an effort to remain actively involved in working with the smaller organizations they support. This is just remarkable. We look forward to our continued relationship with Southwest Airlines and perhaps making the efforts of the "Connecting Hearts and Minds" a resource to work with other non-profit organizations on collaborative projects in the future.
