   the 1999-2000 Miss Indian World... Mitzi Tolino
The 1999 Miss Indian World is 22 year old, Mitzi Tolino of Whiteriver, Arizona. She is of the White Mountain Apache and Navajo tribes. Currently, Ms. Mitzi Tolino is a sophomore at the University of Arizona, studying Political Science. Along with being a full-time college student, Mitzi is also employed at the Native American Resource Center on the campus of University of Arizona. |

| From an early age, her parents stressed the importance of education. She attended high school at Proctor Academy in Andover, New Hampshire, for three years. In 1996, she graduated with honors. Miss Indian World, Mitzi Tolino, will embark on a year of fulfilling her duties as Miss Indian World and serve as an ambassador to all people and all cultures throughout the world. Mitzi hopes that the Title of Miss Indian World will open the avenues for young women to address issues affecting Native | | people, as well as serve “as a medium between all tribes to not only share parts of our cultures, but exchange ideas and beliefs on how we can make our communities healthy once again.” “As an ambassador of all tribes, I see Miss Indian World as being a positive example for Native Youth by exemplifying the qualities that reflect the beautiful teachings of the people.” |
